Meet Sky Zone Myrtle Beach’s Teacher of the Month for December, Maggie Moore, from Homewood Elementary School!
Teacher of the Month
How long have you been a teacher? I have been teaching for five years.
How long have you been at your current school and what grade do you teach? I have been teaching at Homewood Elementary in the 1st grade.
What led you into teaching and what continues to motivate you? During high school, I took a Teacher Cadet course. I was in a 2nd grade classroom and absolutely loved it. I loved being able to watch students grow not only in their learning but also their personalities. Helping students meet their learning goals throughout the year motivates me to keep lessons engaging and help them connect with what they are learning.
What was your reaction to winning the award? When I was presented with December Teacher of the Month from Sky Zone I was really surprised and thankful. When I learned that it was voted on by students, that made it so much more special.
What was the reaction of your class? My class was very excited when I explained to them what I got. We talked about how working hard can be recognized in many different ways. They are also excited to go to Sky Zone and Crazy Mason with their families!
Have you been to Sky Zone before? If so, what was your experience like? I was able to visit Sky Zone when I was younger and it was so much fun! I am so glad my students will be able to go as well!
What do you find most rewarding about being a teacher?The most rewarding thing about being a teacher to me is seeing students grow in their learning but also grow into different versions of themselves. It is amazing how much their personality changes from the beginning to the end of the year. Building relationships with them and helping learn life skills is very rewarding.
Outside of the classroom, what are some of your interests? I have many hobbies outside of the classroom. I love to be creative through different outlets such as drawing, baking, and being crafty. I also love to read, watch movies and listen to music. I enjoy spending quality time with my family and friends as well.
